This is a definitely a highlight of the Canterbury sub-genre. Robert Wyatt decided to form a new band after Soft Machine started heading a direction closer to jazz. Wyatt still creates challenging and experimental music that is as enjoyable as Soft Machine releases. The band consists of Wyatt (ex-Soft Machine), Dave Sinclair (ex-Caravan), Phil Miller (future Hatfield and the North, National Health), and Bill MacCormick, who has played with various other musicians. They are all Canterbury super stars in their own right.

Another classic soul album.

Recorded live at the copacambana New York City in 1964.

Well here we got some really rare stuff Glenn Farian's selftitled album from the 70's. Some books says it was released 1976 and some says 1970. For you that knows a little bit about US psychadelic knows that he was one of the members of the group Headstone Circus.

A pedestrian late-'60s California band, People hit the Top 20 in 1968 with a fluke cover of an old Zombies B-side, "I Love You." Aside from that single, their brand of psychedelic- and soul-influenced heavy rock made little impact. Group member Larry Norman eventually became a noted figure in contemporary Christian music.

Although never achieving the success they deserved, the End are best remembered for their Bill Wyman-produced psychedelic-pop that was a masterful mixture of swirling, dream-like numbers, and flowery, but never twee, pop. Their Introspection album is now viewed as one of the finest examples of British psychedelia.

This album was originally recorded in Italy and England during 1972 by an almost unknown artist who is now a mystery. The album was only ever released in Italy and was almost entirely unknown in the UK and elsewhere around the world. Like many albums after a limited release it receded to a forgotten back page of musical history. It was in the late 1990s that Akarma Records in Italy reissued the album on CD with the original sleeve on the evocative cover.

One of Herb's finest albums and one of the last he made with the Tijuana Brass. Great classic tracks such as "A Banda", "Cowboys and Indians" and "Carmen" are on the album

Stand Up is the second album by Jethro Tull. Prior to this album, original guitarist Mick Abrahams had left the band due to musical conflicts with Ian Anderson. Stand Up represents the first album where Anderson is in full control of the music and lyrics. The album goes in a different direction, introducing influences from Celtic music, folk and classical music. It reached No.1 on the British charts. The album cover, originally a woodcut designed by artist James Grashow, opened up and the band's personnel stood up, similar to a child's pop-up book, linking into the album's title.

Double-CD set of 47 tracks that Hardin recorded for Verve between 1964 and 1966. His expressive, blues-inflected vocals and confessional songwriting are heard on covers and famous compositions like "If I Were a Carpenter," "Lady Came From Baltimore," and "Reason to Believe."
Enjoy.

Vocalist Michelle Cochrane, singer/keyboardist Robb Royer, bassist Tim Hallinan, and drummer Steve Cohn formed harmony pop quartet the Pleasure Fair in Los Angeles in 1966.
Group was also known by several other names including The Rainy Day People.

The first solo album of the architect of the Mamas & Papas sound, John Phillips.

Nice hippie folk from Brasil with a different female vocal.(1978)

This is wonderful, and the bonus tracks are a great addition! The vocals and lyrics are great, as with all early caravan, and there are great instrumental ideas as well. There is an ensemble sound, and great grooves on the jamming.

I am posting this really old 20's jug band music. Right On!

I bet I would've done this one earlier if I hadn't threatened to do so in my profile blurb. Oh well, we've gotten to it now, and this stands as the Small Faces prime psychedelic moment. It is their best album, but I'd still hand someone the Immediate Singles as an introduction before this. The band's psychedelic window dressings are much denser on this disc than on their previous recordings. Even with the amped-up freakiness, I can't help but think that these guys are R&B rockers at heart. Fortunately the band used this dichotomy as an asset which is none more apparent than on this album.

Previously unreleased Psychedelic Folk album from 1970 by Susan Christie, a Philly based sophomore folk singer who had one novelty hit for a major label in the late '60s. This album, which featured her psychedelic take on Country standards and hand crafted tales of inner-city solitude backed by a Folk-Funk rhythm section, was not considered commercially viable and shelved...until now! Uber-legend John Hill produced the album which features 8 tracks including a 12 minute 'drugsploitation' epic called 'Yesterday - Where's My Mind' featuring Susan flipping vocal styles between Janis Joplin and Margo Guryan. Finders Keepers. 2006.

UK folk rock duo similar to Magna Carta crossed with John Martyn and Wizz Jones with acoustic instrumentation and strong songs. A live studio recording with plenty of atmosphere. Fans of UK '70's acoustic folk with a singer songwriter edge will love this.

This is a 1969 recording of some honky Texans singing about the San Fran experience. Electric and acoustic instruments playing blues and country.

Procol Harum's debut album is amazingly engaging, considering that it was rushed out to capitalize on the hit title track. The material was all already written (before the hit, in fact), but the group recorded the LP in just two days, simply to get a long-player out, and came up with one of the more pleasingly straightforward releases in their history.
The Butterfield Blues Band has been critically acclaimed as one the greatest electric blues bands ever! Lead by singer & harmonica player Paul Butterfield, their albums have stood the test of time as classics of the 60's & early 70's. Keep On Moving, was their fifth album, originally released in 1969 on Elektra Records. It features Buzzy Feiten on guitar and David Sanborn on saxophone. This album is making its U.S. CD debut.

Moby Grape's career was a long, sad series of minor disasters, in which nearly anything that could have gone wrong did (poor handling by their record company, a variety of legal problems, a truly regrettable deal with their manager, creative and personal differences among the band members, and the tragic breakdown of guitarist and songwriter Skip Spence), but their self-titled debut album was their one moment of unqualified triumph. Moby Grape is one of the finest (perhaps the finest) album to come out of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, brimming with great songs and fresh ideas while blessedly avoiding the pitfalls that pock marked the work of their contemporaries -- no long, unfocused jams, no self-indulgent philosophy, and no attempts to sonically recreate the sound of an acid trip.

Face to Face was a remarkable record, but its follow-up, Something Else, expands its accomplishments, offering 13 classic British pop songs. As Ray Davies' songwriting becomes more refined, he becomes more nostalgic and sentimental, retreating from the psychedelic and mod posturings that had dominated the rock world. Indeed, Something Else sounds like nothing else from 1967. The Kinks never rock very hard on the album, preferring acoustic ballads, music hall numbers, and tempered R&B to full-out guitar attacks.

Much sought after UK swinging London psych pop album released on the same label as Guy and David's "Five Day Week Straw People". Like that album this is typical melodic late '60s psych with hammond, screaming wah-wah guitar breaks and Cream like vocals…
1968 UK heavy-psych classic, originally released on the budget Saga label. The modest cover art and relative band anonymity betray an accomplished collection of twelve original tracks, with solo guitar blasts and zonked harmonies a'plenty, anchored by some thunderous Hammond. A blanket of warm, hazy production makes this every bit the equal of labelmates The Five Day Week Straw People, and both nestle comfortably next to the filler-free full-lengths of 'underground' icons Second Hand, Open Mind, The Art, etc."Enjoy!

1967 album by the whimsical UK psychedelic pop band who featured future Edwards Hand founders Roger Hand and Rod Edwards (also later in Jade) and who also played at legendary psychedelic venues UFO and Middle Earth! Classic English '60's psych pop that is comparable to The World Of Oz, psych Chad and Jeremy, and Donovan. The Donovan comparison is especially apt as the Picadilly Line is not only produced by Don's producer, John Cameron but also features the same backing band used on Sunshine Superman

Silver Apples - Silver Apples /1968
The music on Silver Apples was unlike anything anyone had previously heard. Simeon layered his oscillators to create a collage of sounds that seemed to be recorded in outer space and then transmitted back to earth for your listening pleasure

For 1969, this was really promising and surprisingly progressive. The tracks are pretty short, with a total time of nearly 30 minutes for 10 tracks. An omnipresent shiny electric church organ gives a pleasant psychedelic style to the music.

Recorded in 1965 at the height of the folk revival,Terry Callier's debut album,

marked him as an important new voice.

Callier's guitar work was quite adventurous by folk standards, incorporating chord voicings

one might expect to hear in a modern jazz context.

Common People is a mystery group.
I don't know much about 5 - man outfit known as the C.P.
I used to think they were an east-coast band because that's what's what they sound like,
but they were managed by Lord Tim Hadson of Seeds and 1969 recorded in L.A.
And so maybe they were west-coast after all
This album is an interesting experience for all psychedelic friends
